Dear list

Is is possible to copy /var/lib/pgsql from one computer to another and
able login like the 1st computer?
I have a production computer and a test computer.

According to some literature, this can be done. However, I found that
the database and user missing when
use wiht psql.

Currently, I am uisng RH Linux 8.0 wiht Postgres 7.2.2.

Thank you.

Try doing an initdb on the other computer OR shutting down postgreSQL
(mandatory) and then copying over your data directory.

Best Wishes,
